Grant Museum of Zoology, University College London, UK Natural science collections are a rich source of primary information about life on earth, but the majority of this information is accessible only to those who physically visit museums. As we move ever closer to a time when ‘If it’s not on the Web, it doesn’t exist at all’ how can we liberate museum data? A number of international initiatives (e.g. GBIF, TDWG, EoL) are building the infrastructure to support the sharing of biodiversity data. How do we integrate museum collections with the landscape of biodiversity informatics?
